Screens of Matter research

Before the end of 2025, we aim to open the world’s first genre-led, multi-use cinema. The space will focus on:

︎ Exploring different ways to support, reach and engage neurodiverse audiences.

︎ Using the venue as a test space for trialling different sustainable financial modules for running a small cinema by offering the space for different uses (such as events and educational lectures) outside of screening times.

︎ Building on the cinema capacity of the city of Bristol and the wider region. Offering more screening space for film festivals, touring moving image art work and film events.

︎ Providing a space for educators to teach film theory, film programming and for students to learn practical skills such as curation, venue operations and event management.

We have developed a business plan and are in the process of applying for funding to launch this venue space. If you are interested in becoming a collaborator please contact us
